What I'm listening to

Postby EMM » Thu Apr 22, 2010 3:50 pm

It might seem pretentious for me to think you care about what i've been listening to lately, but its not so much 'hey lok at this' as 'heres what ive heard lately, wht about you?'. Im not lookin for critism or comment, cos we all have different tastes. Its just nice to share.

Mornng Glory (the song, not album)- Oasis. They may hate each other but Noel's song writing and Liam's rough around the edges vocals are a match made in heaven.
Comfortably numb- Pink Floyd. Stoner music? Maybe, but it makes me ponder life.
The Spirit- Strawberry Ocean Sea- Unsigned band I expect to do well. Already got a few chunes.
Lovecats- The Cure- catchy and cool. Infectious voice that man has.

Right ok that was more pretentious than I imagined.

Your turn.

Groovy.

Lol, but really. Try 'Room Noises' by Eisley. It's the only album I've ever actually bought.

Yep.

Songs I've been liking recently:
Down with Disease, Phish - one of their more normal songs
Fireflies, Owl City - the first current song I've liked for ages
Colin Hay, Waiting for my Real Life to Begin - great stuff this
Oblivion atmosphere music - makes life more epic
Give it Away, RHCP - a classic rediscovered
The Stone Roses album - yeah, it's like... Oh wait, I forgot, I actually haven't been listening to that. My bad.

Shittest music video ever? Quite possibly. Great song? Oh aye.

Phish, guys. Great band. Check out some of their other stuff if you can be bothered. But fear not! This is their only music video. Thank CUNT.

Listening to a lot of post-rock just now, namely Mogwai, This Will Destroy You and Explosions in the Sky. Seriously recommend checking all of these out for some soul-searching music, awesome stuff.

Elsewhere, really got back into Tool with a vengeance recently. What an immeasurably excellent band. Also liking The Mars Volta and Mastodon.

I also seriously recommend Oceansize for anyone who wants to find a bit of hard rock/prog that is really reminiscent of the old Biffy Clyro material, before they became a shower of invertebrate, limp-wristed faggots interested in writing 'epic anthems' to get teenage girls wet.

I've had Zeppelin II on loop in my car for ages, haven't got tired of it yet.

The Lemon Song, I think, may feature the best use of the bass guitar the world has ever known.

Love a bit of Mogwai. One of the excellent Scottish bands that this random Australian guy I got talking to on the flight home recommended me. I felt pretty bad that he knew way more about the Glasgow music scene than I did, but hey.

Checked out some of that other post rock stuff you recommended - more of the same, in the best possible way. Love it.

That has got to be the internet effect. The internet is good for so much more than porn (although it does handle that admirably too)
I am either ridiculously impressed with voice recognition or completely baffled.

"Dive Source SCUBA Watersports" Did you mean, Dinosaurs School for Watersports?

No. But please take me there, smartphone.

We see this kind of shit in Wales all the time.

I like this. I like how you handled this. You could've come right out and been "Some guy cunted that sheep," but you went subtle.

Just listened to that Led Zeppelin track. It's pretty good - it's more bluesy than I had thought Led Zeppelin were.

I've been listening to Incubus's 'Just A Phase' once pretty much every day for the past week. Superb stuff. '11am' is pretty good, too.
