I was talking to someone at uni today, they were doing some checks on Companies House and found something mind blowing.

Whitehaven, as in Craig Whyte's company, is now the secured creditor of all of Rangers FC.

Ticketus, the secured creditor with the right to several years future season ticket sales for Rangers FC, has the same registered address as Whitehaven.

The official US Air Force guidance to SR-71 pilots when detecting a missile had been launched at them was to speed up a little bit, because they would outrun it.

There is such a thing as a knife only server in Counter-Strike: Source.

True, but we sadly don't have a "Furious Masturbation" forum.

Brainwave: we should have a "Furious Masturbation" forum.

So when the class one eggs are in Waitrose and you cannot go there, you have a problem.

I've been doing a backup of bantermarket.com and it's still going (it's in /labs so far) but it has just passed 40GB.

Wait wait, is this /bantermarket.com the folder, or bantermarket.com from $HOME/* ? Can you peek into the backup while it's being backed up?

I'm backing up a lot of stuff (about 30GB of stuff). Has it preserved the properties of the symlink ~hamwise, including my stuff within it? Make sure it isn't, there's no sense backing up a backup. Actually, what I've put up there is a backup of a backup, so you might be making a backup of a backup of a backup.

It's an rsync of /home/bantermarket/* . Ah, I take your point on backups of backups, I'll do a clear out and fiddle with the rsync command before the next run.

We're definitely getting our money's worth on unlimited storage. How long did that take you to upload?

Oh, years. Nah, probably about 5 days of constant WinSCP'ing.

Make sure to not declare both $HOME/Private/hamwise, and $HOME/bantermarket.com/~hamwise. The latter is a symlink, but I think running backups often preserves the files within symlinked dirs.

I've got 60GB of music I'd like to back up. I already back it up on Google, but I have a funny feeling Google Play Music is going to be pulled or will, at least, disable the uploading of music. It doesn't seem like a sustainable business model. Think I could back up an extra 60GB (this is on top of everything else we're hosting) without rousing suspicion?

Man, if I did that, I should probably consider absorbing Eoghan's yearly fees or something.

I would heartily recommend a rooted Pogoplug as a good way to set and forget massive uploads/downloads.

I can't imagine really. Dreamhost has 1.3TB left on that server so unless you're going to go batshit crazy you're probably ok.

I use a WinSCP joint local/server directory sync. It takes the hash of the files on each side, and submits the changes to the server. Just haven't been doing it for Music yet. Now I'll be able to do it for my entire data drive.

I won't be backing up any movies or episodes, though, as that'd take just too much space and too much time to upload. I don't mind sacrificing them after a massive drive failure.
